About Us

Základní organizace Českého zahrádkářského svazu č. 20 Žatec U Flóry is a local gardening organization serving the community of Žatec and supporting the values of horticulture, environmental care, education, cooperation, and responsible stewardship of green spaces.

Our organization is built around a shared appreciation for gardens and their important role in everyday life. Gardens can provide opportunities for recreation, learning, biodiversity, community interaction, and a closer relationship with nature. They also provide a valuable environment where practical knowledge can be passed from experienced gardeners to new generations.

We seek to create a welcoming community where people can exchange gardening experience, develop practical horticultural knowledge, learn about responsible cultivation methods, and participate in activities connected with plants, gardens, nature, and environmental awareness.

An important part of our purpose is preserving and sharing gardening knowledge. Horticultural traditions have developed through generations of practical experience, and we believe this knowledge remains valuable in modern society. At the same time, gardening continues to evolve through new approaches to sustainability, biodiversity, soil care, water conservation, composting, and environmentally responsible cultivation.

Our organization therefore seeks to connect traditional gardening experience with contemporary environmental awareness.

We value cooperation, volunteer participation, mutual respect, accessibility, community involvement, and responsible care for nature. Through our activities, we aim to strengthen relationships among gardening enthusiasts and encourage individuals to become active participants in creating greener, healthier, and more sustainable surroundings.

We welcome people who share an interest in gardening, horticulture, plants, environmental responsibility, and community life. Whether someone has many years of gardening experience or is only beginning to discover the world of plants, we believe that knowledge grows when it is shared.

Our Vision

Our vision is a community in which gardening contributes to a greener environment, stronger relationships between people, greater environmental awareness, and the preservation of horticultural knowledge for future generations.

We envision a future where people of different ages and levels of experience can connect through a shared interest in gardening and nature.

We want gardening knowledge to remain accessible, practical, and relevant. We hope that future generations will continue to understand the importance of healthy soil, responsible water use, biodiversity, plant cultivation, seasonal awareness, and respect for natural ecosystems.

Our long-term vision is to contribute to a culture where gardens are recognized not only as productive or recreational spaces, but also as places for education, biodiversity, community connection, environmental responsibility, and personal well-being.
